The Beverage Association of South Africa (BevSA), the unified voice for the non-alcoholic refreshment beverage industry, today announced the appointment of its new Board of Directors. These experienced professionals will provide leadership and strategic guidance to BevSA as it continues to represent and support its members.

The new board brings together a diverse group of individuals with expertise across various sectors.

Sergio Moraes Vieira Filho, who will serve as Non-Executive Director and Chairperson, has over 20 years of experience in the Coca-Cola system, most recently as Vice President of Franchise Operations South Africa. He brings valuable experience and insights into commercial operations, marketing strategies, and driving growth in diverse markets.

Grant Pereira, who will serve as Non-Executive Director and Deputy Chairperson, is the Managing Director of Tiger Brands’ Snacks & Treats and Beverages category, bringing a wealth of experience from across the food and beverage landscape. With prior leadership roles in marketing and finance at South African Breweries & AB InBev and operations at Mvelaphanda Group, his broad perspective and expertise will be invaluable in guiding BevSA’s strategic direction. 

Fred Chiazor, who will serve as Non-Executive Director, has over 35 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, most recently as Senior Director: Technical & Regulatory Affairs -Africa (EMEA) at Monster Energy Company. He brings expertise in regulatory affairs, public policy, and standards development across Africa.

Basetsana Modimogale, who will serve as Non-Executive Director, is the Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa (CCBSA) Public Affairs Director where she plays a key role in shaping the company’s strategic priorities and growth agenda. Her experience includes developing and executing public affairs strategies, building strong stakeholder relationships, and driving effective internal and external communications. This experience brings valuable insights into building strong relationships, promoting the industry’s reputation, and navigating complex regulatory and social issues.

The new board members’ diverse backgrounds and expertise will be instrumental in guiding BevSA’s strategic direction, ensuring the industry’s continued success, and navigating the evolving challenges and opportunities within the non-alcoholic beverage sector. Their collective experience spans commercial operations, regulatory affairs, public policy, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable practices, positioning BevSA to effectively advocate for its members and drive positive change.
